Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Blueberry Banana Smoothie

This blueberry banana smoothie, is so simple and easy to make. It is such a refreshing and filling smoothie on a hot summer day! My kids love the natural sweetness, and I love that there is nothing but healthy ingredients. With only 6 whole foods in this smoothie, it is a cinch to whip together and also works great as a quick breakfast or even dessert. Guaranteed to cure any sweet tooth!

The Power of Seeds

As always, I’m looking for ways to sneak in more flax and chia seeds and they just work so well with banana base smoothies. Why flaxseed and chia? These two little seeds are so nutritious—loaded with OMEGA-3, fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium, and loaded with antioxidants. Seeds are such an excellent source of fiber, healthy fats, antioxidants, and more. Seeds are a staple for the plant-based diet. Flaxseed is such a nutrient-dense food I try to sneak it in anywhere I can. One tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains 2.8 grams of fiber! Holy cow, that’s a big punch for a little tiny seed. Plus flaxseed is very affordable!

How to Make a Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Making a delicious smoothie is super easy. You just need a blender and some fruit. We love smoothies at my house, and eat them almost everyday in the summer months. This smoothie recipe is super simple and has the right balance of frozen to fresh fruits. It’s a tasty treat any time of the day. Frozen not fresh blueberries are the key to getting the right smoothie texture in this recipe. Although I love some fresh blueberries, save those for nibbling and stick to frozen berries for this smoothie.

The Best Blender

We have a Kitchenaid K400 blender and it is a great blender. It can blend raw veggies into a super smooth smoothie and turn grains into flour in a cinch. It works just as well as the Vitamix we had for a short period of time, but at a fraction of the cost. My only beef with this blender—I wish they made a glass pitcher, but those seem rare to find these days. Now let’s get blending! Print
