Peach and Banana Smoothie

Peach and Banana Smoothie

Β

A kid favorite at our house, great for breakfast or a healthy snack. Plus, I love that this recipe is so easy my kids can make this all on their own. This peach and banana smoothie is naturally sweet but includes no added sugar. Yum! With just 7 ingredients it is a great way to kick start your day. I love the combination of peach and cinnamon.

Smoothies Everyday

In the summertime I could drink a smoothie every single day. They are cool, refreshing, and light on your stomach. Because who wants to eat a big heavy meal when it’s 80 degrees and humid? Over the years we’ve tried a plethora of fruit and veggie smoothie combinations. Some turn out, and some are duds. This one has withstood the test of time and is a favorite we always go back to. Plus, I love that I can hid some flax and chia in this tasty slurpy deliciousness.

Why flaxseed and chia seed?

These two little seeds are so nutritious packed with OMEGA-3, fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium, and antioxidants, that we try to sneak them into as many meals as possible. Flaxseed is so nutritious that Dr. Michael Greger recommends 1 tablespoon of it per day on his list of the daily dozen. WebMD calls flaxseed a wonderful and says that β€œSome call it one of the most powerful plant foods on the planet. There’s some evidence it may help reduce your risk ofΒ heart disease,Β cancer,Β stroke, andΒ diabetes. That’s quite a tall order for a tiny seed that’s been around for centuries.” Plus, flaxseed is super affordable, which is rare these days for a superfood. Flaxseed is high in omega-3, lignans (an antioxidant) and fiber. In fact, eggs high in omega-3 at the grocery store, get their omega-3 from eating flaxseed!

According to Harvard Health chia seeds are also high in fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and various vitamins and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. More of that please!

Now let’s get blending!
